AWC A-108 – Calcite and gypsum inhibitor

Calcite and gypsum Inhibitor

An excellent gypsum antiscalant that also exhibits excellent control of calcite,  phosphate, silica, and alumino-silicate scales. It is tolerant to high iron oxide concentrations and ferric coagulant carryover that can deactivate other antiscalants. It’s highly effective in water reuse membrane applications. It’s high strength formulation ensures low dose requirements and maximal protection.

A colourless to light yellow liquid, completely water soluble.

Advantages

  • Premium broad spectrum antiscalant designed to inhibit inorganic scale formation in membrane separation processes
  • Inhibits calcium carbonate scale up to a Calcium Carbonate Nucleation Index (CCNI) of 2.3
  • Maintains good scale inhibition even in the presence of moderate levels of iron
  • Controls calcium sulphate, barium sulphate and strontium sulphate scales in waters with an extremely high scaling potential.
  • Also inhibits silicate and phosphate scales at moderate to high levels.
  • Effectively stabilises metal ions and disperses metal oxides and other inorganic particulates such as silt and clay
  • Environmentally compatible, especially where discharge of waste into the environment is a concern
  • Certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 60

Packaging

  • 20L pails
  • 200L non-returnable plastic drums
  • 1000L IBC

Safety and Handling

Store in a cool, dry place. In accordance with good safety practice, handle with care and avoid contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact with skin. For more information, see the Safety Data Sheet provided with this product

Chemical Feeding and Control

Injection:
AWC A-108 should be injected continuously into the RO feedwater line, downstream of multimedia filters, and preferably downstream of the cartridge filters in the presence of a static mixer. In the absence of a static mixer, dosing upstream of the cartridge filters will serve as a substitute to improve mixing.
Dosing:
The dosage required to inhibit scale formation will typically be in the range of 1- 5 ppm, depending on feed water quality and system operating parameters. Dosage should be determined by modelling using AWC Proton® membrane antiscalant projection software.
